This week, Recode’s Kara Swisher discusses which robot she’d consider buying and what her top robot picks might be.
The robot that wins her vote would be the next generation of robot, the “Rubber Shield” from Lidar, which has already become a household name.
Recode explains: “The Rubber Shield is an awesome robot, and it’s the next evolution of robot.”
The new version, which comes with Lidars new software and is designed to look like a typical rubber shield, has a new look, a new head, and a new body, and LidAR claims it has the “highest spatial resolution” of any sensor in its class.
But the new version of the Rubber Shield comes with a price tag: the Rubber Armor 3.0.
LidArms claims that it will cost $3,100, or about $50 more than the previous version.
The company also says it’s designed to be “easy to repair,” which is good news for those of us who don’t want to spend a ton of money to make the most of our robots.
If you don’t have a robot that will be as durable as the Rubber Shields, the LidARS “rubber armor” could be a good alternative.
Recoding this question is part of Recode Media’s “Ask Kara” series.
This week’s question was from Robby Rizk.
